Kensington & Chelsea Twin Pump Station Installation, Refurbishment and Rapid Breakdown Response

We have recently completed and commissioned a full twin-pump station installation and refurbishment project in the prestigious borough of Kensington and Chelsea. This rapid response installation was carried out following a breakdown of the existing system, where our engineers attended promptly, assessed the failure, and delivered a complete upgrade to restore full foul-water pumping capability for the property. Our team specialises in emergency pump station repairs, refurbishments and new installations across London, ensuring reliable operation for both domestic and commercial clients.

Twin Caprari MXV09 Pumps 0.9kW – Robust, Reliable & Ideal for Sewage Applications

This pumping station was configured with 2 × Caprari MXV09 specialist sewage pumps, each capable of handling 50mm diameter solids. These pumps are widely recognised for their durability, making them a preferred choice for high end residential and commercial installations. With decades of experience installing and refurbishing sewage pump stations, we consistently find the MXV09 range to deliver exceptional reliability, even under demanding conditions.

The Caprari MXV09 series combines compact design with the ability to convey wastewater containing fibrous and solid materials without difficulty. This makes them particularly suitable for foul water pumping, basement drainage, and sewage transfer applications where long term performance is essential.

Vortex Impeller – 50mm Free Passage for Trouble Free Operation

The pumps feature a 50mm free passage vortex impeller, ensuring smooth and reliable operation even when handling domestic sewage and solids. This design significantly reduces the risk of blockages, making it ideal for properties with high usage or sensitive drainage layouts.

Automatic Operation & Overload Protection

Each pump is equipped with an integral float switch for automatic level control, while the internal capacitor allows for simple and efficient power connection. The motor includes auto reset thermal overload protection, safeguarding the pump during heavy load or abnormal operating conditions.

4no Micro Pear Floats – Accurate Level Control

As with all of our sewage pumping station installations and refurbishments, this system includes multiple high quality float switches to monitor and control water levels within the chamber. These floats ensure accurate pump activation, preventing both dry run and overfill scenarios.

Our micro pear float switches are manufactured from high impact, corrosion resistant PVC, offering long term durability and reliability. They are designed to withstand harsh wastewater environments, making them ideal for foul water pump stations in demanding locations such as Kensington and Chelsea.

IP55 Dual Control Panel – Built for Reliability

Unlike many budget pump station suppliers, we only install high quality IP55 rated dual control panels. These panels are built using premium electrical and mechanical components housed in a robust enclosure, ensuring long term reliability and safe operation. The panel provides full duty/assist/standby functionality, pump protection, and clear visual indication of system status.

Final Discharge Connection – 2" UPVc to 110mm PVC

All discharge pipework is fully inspected and pressure tested after commissioning to ensure leak free operation. The industrial grade UPVc and PVC pipework used in this installation is designed for long term durability, resisting shock, vibration, and chemical exposure. This ensures a reliable discharge line capable of handling continuous foul water pumping.

System Tested Under Full Load

Before signing off the installation, we carried out a full operational test by introducing a high inflow of water to simulate real world demand. This ensures the pumps, pipework, floats, and sump operate correctly under load. Our commissioning process guarantees that the system is safe, efficient, and ready for long term service.

Empty Sump – 1200 × 635 × 1000mm (LWD)

This image shows the sump in its empty state. Designed to meet the client’s usage requirements, this chamber provides approximately 700 litres of storage capacity, accommodating backwash flow and any incoming surface water. The sump dimensions and pump selection were carefully matched to ensure optimal performance and compliance with local drainage requirements.
